I have a couple old school memphis mc1000d's I wanna use in my spl setup and I was really wanting to buy some lvl 4 xl's at 1.4 ohm and run my mc1000d's at .7 ohms. How bad of an idea is this anyone have knowledge of these amps being pushed under 1 ohm successfully? If so how low and were they used as daily or just for burps. I love these amps and I just don't wanna kill em dang they r almost as old as my kids.

i never messed with the mc1000d's but I did run a pair of the 4000 watt amps for a few weeks.

I do know they where the most powerhog of an amp I ever used, and they ran HOTTTTT. I used them for a couple comps and had each amp wired at .35 for burps and bassrace. I know when I tied the other competitor in bassrace we had to rerun, and then 2nd run i had a amp go into thermal protect...

It still worked after it cooled down tho.

But again, these are your amps bigger brothers.

I wouldnt personally run the amps any lower then .75ohms each daily. and around .4-.5ohms for burps. You better have the electrical to back them up at such a low impedance too, im sure they will make close to 2000watts each at .5ohms if not more! Im sure you will also have to roll the volume up at that low of a impedance too when you burp, or else they will most likely go into protect, so slowly turn it up to get some impedance rise and you should be good.
