gowerryan Posted November 1, 2011 Report Share Posted November 1, 2011 anyone kno what all it would take to swap the stock 2.9 to a 4.0? planning on a lift and big tires to i want the power for off road but would like to kno what all it takes like would i have to swap tranny and ac alternator and power streering pump every thing like that or just a simple swap? crispy_chick3n Posted November 2, 2011 Report Share Posted November 2, 2011 no such thing as an easy motor swap. lol it should be straight forward enough. get everything from the 4.0 that you can. (engine, transmission, transfer case, alternator, power steering pump, etc. etc. etc.) to make it easier on yourself, when you go to pull the old motor, pull the front clip off of the car, that way you can pull engine and trasnmission as one. it should be easy ish, considering there isnt much if any computer to that car. hardest part will be getting the 4.0 to bolt up. make sure you look the vehicle up on the ondemand for a procedure on how to pull the front clip. best of luck to you.
