6berry
hole cut for removable port removable port piece port Little bit more stuff done. Got the removable port finished. pulled the front passenger seat out to run the 6 channel rcas to the back and run speaker wire to the front. laid down some second skin while i was under there and heres the almost done product because i didnt have enough 16 gauge wire to do another run to the front so i need to go pick some of that up the subs! 1999 Audi A4 1.8T::: 4 - DC Level 3 10's in a 4th order Rockford P6002 on Subs for now (3-3.5k coming eventually) MB Quart ONX4.60 for Mids and Highs Boston S50 Components in Front Boston S65 Coaxials in Rear 40 Sq Ft of Second Skin Damplifier Build Thread UBL 1948 Plymouth
6berry
got the 2 runs of KCA 1/0 ran to the back and wired up the fuses and all that fun stuff. i forgot to take pictures of the other stuff i got done but heres the wires edit: also laid down some second skin on the floor the new port i made because the old one wouldnt fit finished the flange for the removable port to mount to i bolted the port into the front wall of the box. here's DC number 1 in its new home then i mocked up the box to make sure everything fit in place before i put it in and start screwing it together 1999 Audi A4 1.8T::: 4 - DC Level 3 10's in a 4th order Rockford P6002 on Subs for now (3-3.5k coming eventually) MB Quart ONX4.60 for Mids and Highs Boston S50 Components in Front Boston S65 Coaxials in Rear 40 Sq Ft of Second Skin Damplifier Build Thread UBL 1948 Plymouth
6berry
and the bracing i put on the top baffle because i was bored everything fit great besides here theres only about 1/4" of a gap. the picture doesnt show it very well but does anyone know if thats enough of a gap or should there be more? i can probably move the baffles back an eighth inch or so. the baffles are gonna be glassed and have threaded rod through them for bracing so i doubt its gonna flex but idk about the pole vent had to router this little section out for more clearance heres the battery with all wires connected to it. its kinda messy but ill clean it up once i get an xs. and the second fuse holder and here you can see i took out the factory center console because i always left it tilted up and people though it would be smart to open it and mocking up the back wall of the box and then once i cut down the buss bars. im hoping to be able to fit a sundown, dc, or crescendo 3k-3.5k amp at the bottom. fiberglassing is fun until your glove rips. put a layer of 1 1/2 oz chop mat on the bottom and outsides, resined the top piece, and reresined the port.
6berry
box assembled before fiberglass then after fiberglass. i did about 5 layers on the hole in the front corner over the tape and a big piece on the wall behind each speaker cutout because that was the easiest to get to and then a strip down the bottom from front to back i still need to attach the back piece then finish glassing in the sealed sections and glass in the ported section Got the whole box screwed together and resined! heres one of the baffles. you can also see the threaded rod on the baffle. i had to put it that high because the stock trunk panels were in the way any lower. Here's the front view without the port in and of course my camera phone messes up again to make it look like its not straight! and the back wall from the trunk. this is where the amps will be mounted 1999 Audi A4 1.8T::: 4 - DC Level 3 10's in a 4th order Rockford P6002 on Subs for now (3-3.5k coming eventually) MB Quart ONX4.60 for Mids and Highs Boston S50 Components in Front Boston S65 Coaxials in Rear 40 Sq Ft of Second Skin Damplifier Build Thread UBL 1948 Plymouth
6berry
and the mb quart amp, kicker kx3 and buss bars installed on the rear panel. i have just enough room for a crescendo bc3500 on the bottom got both subs put in and wired and put the custom smiley faced covers on the other two holes put the port in just to see what it looked like and got the back seat put back in so it looks like i have a normal car again. this video is 100% bass. i plugged the subs into my brothers zx1000.1 amp in his car just to hear how loud the bass was and its quite louder than the bostons are without even being broken in yet and this is how we got it done. started working on the trim panel for the rear arm rest to make it look prettier.
6berry
also started working on the rear speaker pods again. I have to build these because the box is too high for the speakers to mount normally and i wanna try it out. got another piece made up for the trim panel in the armrest. for the rest of the pieces i need to use 1/8" wood so i gotta get that then ill finish that. almost got the fiberglass speaker pods done. not bad for my first time ever doing it carpeted the front wall the wiring is still super messy. And i finished the trim panel for the rear armrest. im probably gonna paint it black eventually 1999 Audi A4 1.8T::: 4 - DC Level 3 10's in a 4th order Rockford P6002 on Subs for now (3-3.5k coming eventually) MB Quart ONX4.60 for Mids and Highs Boston S50 Components in Front Boston S65 Coaxials in Rear 40 Sq Ft of Second Skin Damplifier Build Thread UBL 1948 Plymouth
6berry
painted the trim panel to match my car added a 2x4 brace to the rear wall because it was moving a little bit on the low notes and put a "loading wall" behind the rear sub because it was unloading some on the low notes added a usb extension so i can plug in my ipod or a flash drive 1999 Audi A4 1.8T::: 4 - DC Level 3 10's in a 4th order Rockford P6002 on Subs for now (3-3.5k coming eventually) MB Quart ONX4.60 for Mids and Highs Boston S50 Components in Front Boston S65 Coaxials in Rear 40 Sq Ft of Second Skin Damplifier Build Thread UBL 1948 Plymouth
6berry
did a little work today. made a new port because the edges of the old one were covered by the trim panel in the rear armrest and the new one has more port area. also i moved the sub to the opposite chamber and the bandwidth is great now and its way louder. i cant wait to get a new amp now to see what it will do!
