Ross's "in-between" build. (Now with 4th order. Page 5.)

Why in the first design, was the port mouth and the sub, not on the same side of the box, to couple the front and rear wave? Also, why is the sub inverted, do you also have the phase 180*?

I work tomorrow jake. Zach said its bottoming out because I need to have a amp with a subsonic filter to set.

Jhmeg the sub is inverted because the magnet is bad ass and it wouldn't fit the box regular. By 180ed do you mean switch the pos and neg?

right about the sub phasing, but why didn't you just build the box, so the sub fits corectly? I mean, you took the time to build a custom box, why not build it right? But other than that, its a nice build. For example, if you look at the pic in my profile, I build that box with the two subs inverted, and 180 deg. out of phase.

AC Plywood.

My wall is built of it

I like it more plus it's lighter. Which benefits me when it's just me to put a box in. I'm a big guy I can lift a good bit. But my nightshade in a 5.5-6cube box I had made from mdf was so damn heavy. Like maybe 100-150

Jake- I work Tuesday's and Thursday's more. I'll be there this Saturday I think. My amp or head unit doesn't have a subsonic setting.

Jhmeg- I wanted to mount it inverted and had planned on it since I designed the box. I wanted to show off how big the magnet is for a little 8" sub.

ok, I understand, now that you designed it that way. Have you thought about just puting in a poly-carb window?

I hope you don't think I'm trying to be a dick. I'm just thinking out loud, and trying to help. I totaly dig t-lines. Also admire any one who takes on the task of buildig one. I have built a few, and I found them to be great for SPL, but even better for SQ.
