help wirin my alt please

i wanted to know if you could help me out please with adding a second alt to a 5.7 vortec.. i have a 2000 escalade and i recently got a 290amp high output alt from a 05 tahoe 5.3 vortec... it has 3 wires off the plug for the alt and my stock alt only has 1 brown wire off the plug.. do you know what wires i have to hook up to run both alts by chance.. any help would be GREATLY appreciated.. the colors of the wires off the ho alt are green w black tracer,white w black tracer and yellow w white..Thanks alot

i would recommend that you look in the manual. it will tell you what wires do what. you will have to look in each motor section seen how they are for different motors that will be your best bet good luck to you man

as far as I know, that alt wont be compatable with your truck. Yes, it does bolt in same spot, but the voltage regulators are totally different, and I believe the V/R's on 01 and newer GM trucks with 4.8/5.3/6.0 etc.. .are somewhat PCM controlled. Can you make it work, yeah probably, but is it worth all the time and effort, probably not.. Why didnt you just get the correct alt for your app?
