armykyle1
I went to harbor freight and picked up the hydraulic crimp tool. I went to recrimp my kicker and stinger expert 0ga wires, just to test it out. There's no way in hell the wire or terminals will fit in the 0ga dies.... So I will be returning it. I need to get a crimp tool by Friday. I was looking at hammer crimp tools, but they don't seem practical to use inside the car lol. The only crimpers I've found besides those are, 150 bucks or more. So if that's the case, I'll stick to soldering the ends, using lugs or terminals. Any help would be appreciated Quote TEAM XS POWERTEAM HEAVY HERTZMy build- http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/194454-e46-bmw-build-pos/#entry2914134youtube- http://www.youtube.com/user/armykyle1big build starting

mlstrass
I use 1/2 of a 60# dumbbell and a BFH. Portable, so you can use it almost anywhere. Then use a punch to stake the terminal in a few places and it will never come apart... Edited November 27, 2011 by mlstrass
AMI CUSTOMS
I use the $150 mega crimpers, bought them 5+ years ago when I was an installer and one of the best tools I own today, used mine over 1000 times and crimps perfect everytime from 8 gauge to 2/0. Even did some 3/0 a few times too haha. shogen
I have the harbor freight crimp tool and use it for 0ga terminals... Trick to it is to use the 0 die on top and any other die size on bottom, but turned over, not inside the mount and squeeze it nicely... Then release... Use the 0 die on top with 0 on bottom and squeeze until you can hear wire pressing tightly... I've done this many times with no issues, only time a terminal almost came off is when my sister ran over the wire in her car... I almost always go a step further and then use 2-4 die at the very end of the terminal where it meets the wire jacket and squeeze it until it is almost flat, this way it doesn't allow pull on the wire inside the terminal... Hope that helps... I did all my 0ga wire in my Camry like so and have had no issues... armykyle1
I don't have a vice I'm trying to justify gettin the mega crimpers but I don't do many installs. I'm on my way to harbor freight right now... The nerve damage in my left ARM/hand makes it extremely difficult to hold a punch safely. I got mine from JL Troy, they are a distributor for car audio shops, I don't know what company makes them they don't have any marking on them except the gauge of wire you are crimping and it is terminal or lug. Cuz if you can't mega crimpers won't work for you either. You would have to have hydraulic or electric.
