How much power are you running to your new summer project? How are you reenforcing it? I see the screw and bolt through there but did you also reenforce the interior with a resin? I'm curious because I'm about to do a new project too and upgrade power. I'm afraid that I will need to add some bracing to my new box.

just my $0.02 too, have you tried birch for the box material? I use MDF right now but I had the opportunity to check out a birch box and it made the world of a difference although it's about $15 more per sheet

Still running the skar 1500.1 to them. The inside is resined and the bolt running through is fiber glassed on the bottom. I would suggest double baffling the top and adding a threaded rod like I did. (the decorative piece adds is the double baffle for me lol)

I don't like birch its too expensive and mdf sands and is easier to work with.

thanks for the information, I was looking at either doing 1500wrms to the sub or 2000wrms to the sub because it seems like it can take that kind of power. I planned on doing a double baffle but I wasn't 100% sure on the bolt through the box or fiberglassing.... i guess everyone will see my first attempt at fiberglassing and hopefully I will be comfortable after this to maybe do some tweeter pods that look as good as yours lol.

Honestly I'd resin it...my top piece was flexing way to much before the threaded rod and the top piece plus glassing.

Well you asked me if I wanted some pointers... And after seeing your fiberglassing again its really making me wonder whats up. How do you get the body filler to sand down so smooth? I put on coat after coat and sand but theres still little spots... Btw the wiring and the box are looking good!

It is usually the filler you are using. If you're using bondo it is going to be hard to get a perfect finish. Try some of the body filler from evercoat, and apply it over your glassed piece that you have sanded. Once the filler has been applied as smoothly as possible you want to start sanding after the filler is dried. I start with a 100 grit to 150 grit on the bondo bc the evercoat stuff sands very easily. Then work your way up I got from 100/150-220-320-320 wet then primer. Sand the primer down with 220 where the defect are, then primer again, 320-320 wet prime one last time. If its perfect I sand it 1000-1500 wet until I get a super smooth finish. Then paint it with a nice expensive rattle can lol I use rustoleoum professional. Lastly clear coat for that glossy strong finish.

I had a feeling it had something to do with the filler, It was too cheap. Thanks I'll try some of that. Not sure where I'd find 1000 grit sandpaper though.

Pep boys has 1000 and 1500 grit and you can also buy it online. Go to sherman williams autobody and they will have the filler and every grit you need it is a little pricey so I usually just get the lightweight filler that is on sale.

looks good , may want to paint the heads of your bolts white to blend them in . is that a fire extinguisher i see ?

I like the structural look of them, they match with the sub screws at least. But I did considered painting them....hmmm I have a few extra maybe I'll see how they look.
