It's not that I'm giving up bro, I'm not mad or anything, I take in what everybody says, with that being said, my last 3 boxes are as follows 4th order, 2 sundown sa-12's, same amp, tuned to 32hz, peaked at 28hz 2 sundown sa12's tuned to 43hz, peaked at 48hz This box, 2 HDC310's tuned to 35hz, peaked at 33 The last two were regular slot ports It's just weird to me, I'm not gonna say there's no way my box can't wrong, it's possible, I just think it weird, I use Torres, did as showed, I'm just stumped that's all 2011 Mitsubishi OutlanderSony 712 Soundqubed HDS208 Alpine MRV-M500 Transmission line enclosure Soundqubed wiring Knu rca XS Power battery CNF terminals

kirill007 Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 So it's firing forward or backwards? The 4th order is peaking lower, because that's what they do. I've heard taht HDC's like high tuning so tuning them to that "low", would make them peak below port tuning. I've had this happen with other woofers. It could also be because you are firing forward and it's not sealed off yet, you get weird results because of the waves cancelling each other out at higher frequencies. And if you are firing backwards, something "similar" could happen.(most of the times that happens when the box is close to the trunk itself, or when the port "extends" because your trunk is barely bigger then your box and the room between the box and car/trunk acts like a "port") Show a picture of how it's setup. Thinking is the root of all problems... You ALWAYS get what you pay for.

Yeah, rear deck hasn't been deadened yet, and subs haven't been sealed off from the trunk yet, just got some more stuff in today for my rebuild so everything will get done eventually. When I dropped from 2Ω to 1Ω on the same amp, subs and box, my peak rose to 36hz. Nothing to be worried about, OP. If I went by what my Bronco peaks at, all of my boxes are way below that. Truck is ~64hz. The Bronco probably also has a little peak at 33hz. It's the combination of the box and the car's frequency responce that causes a peak. It's quite unusual that the peak jumps when you apply more power. Normally the peak drops the frequency. Thinking is the root of all problems... You ALWAYS get what you pay for.
