Big 3/Battery Relocate Problem/Questions.

So I have upgraded my big 3 with Knu CCA 0 gauge in my suburban.

Battery is in the back of the truck behind rear seats. 2 optima redtops are the batteries. So I have 1 run from the + on the battery to a anl 200amp fuse on the core support and then to the alternator. 1 run from the frame to the engine. And 1 run from the frame to battery. I have the stock wire for the starter attached to the + wire with the alt at the anl fuse.

So when I first attempted to start the truck it turned over 1-2 times and popped the fuse. So I played with it and made sure all grounds were ground clean, shiny metal, good tight connects etc.... and even redid the battery ground and tried again, the truck turned over several more times this try until the fuse blew.

Any ideas what I've screwed up here?

Should I just mount 1 battery up front with the starter wire attached here as well as the alt wire(after the fuse) and hook my long run to the back of the truck to the positive reconnecting the 2nd battery? Id rather keep the batteries in the rear if possible just to help the engine compartment look cleaner....

Is the cable from the battery fused by any chance? (engines need alot of amperage to start)

I just re-read your post.

You need a wire direct from the battery to starter (unfused).

You could reattach the starter wire before the fuse holder...

My big 3 upgrade was 1/0 gauge all around...I thought since I was upgrading my electrical might as well as upgrade all of it...

I have a 1/0 going from my battery > starter...then 4gauge from starter > alternator....I also have a 1/0 gauge going from bat > alt. I have 4 grounds going from my battery. 3 > the frame itself and one to the engine. As well as 1/0 going from the engine > chassis... my car has no problem. None of it is fused...but It's recommended to fuse it from bat > alt

For your problem...make sure all your ground terminals are clean bare metal...make sure there is no shortage in any of your lines. These commonly cause fuse to pop.

It sounds like your fuse is too small for the current your starter is pulling. Either run a wire to the starter with no fuse, or get a fuse big enough to allow the current your starter is pulling.
