I have to ask... Where the hell did you get these subs?

Also is the box super efficient or is it the subs that is letting you get so loud off such small power?

Amazing build bro and great skillz with the metal trim pieces! Looks great man!

Also, I got the subs from Mr.P who was active on here a few years ago. He got them from a guy in the bay area who does pro sound stuff. They were originally made for stadium and large venue use. the cone and surround could not handle the abuse that a woofer goes through in the car so they mechanically failed and I rebuilt them to what they are today. I ran speaker wires from another car that had a DC 5k and pushed these woofers... WOW! I didn't try much for lows because I was scared like a bitch but around the 40hz range was tight, punchy, and played with a certain authority that I liked. I definitely have to lower the tuning when I up the power.

Ok so these can handle much more power than what your putting on them? I was under the impression that they would only take small power because of the softparts. I was just wondering because I have a scion tc and running a 5k in it is tough lol.

yes they can take more but they are low power compared to SPL divers that everybody here runs. I plan on giving them 1kw each for daily and 1500-2000 for burps and that is it. The weak link on this driver is the coil and the motor assembly. Long term thermal handling is low do to the small mass of the motor and 2 layer 4" coil.

Ah I could see the drawbacks on daily ground n pound then. I like running mine around 28hz tuning and slammin. I know I'd have to find motors and build these type subs from scratch but would it be worth doing? I already have a xsv2 but having so much weight and not much room sucks.

I think they are worth it if you can work out a way to acquire them. I wouldn't go into it thinking that they are the same as other 4" coil drivers though.
