1 ohm and 4 ohm same amount of power?

Recommended Posts

Depends really on the application... 4ohms will be more efficient than 1ohm and thus sound better and have less energy given off as heat.

more resistance = more heat. 4ohm is more resistant than 1ohm.

True, Got that one wrong once i thought more. I guess I was just thinking about how amps have gotten hotter on 1ohm vs 2 or 4ohms and I guess that's mostly to do with the amount of current it draws, if an amp was producing the same amount of power at 4ohms it would be significantly hotter than at 1ohm and draw a bunch more current.

False? It an amp could do the same power a 4 ohm it would b much more efficient.. And it would have LESS heat than one that did the same power at 1ohm..

im actually talking about the speaker, not the amp.

Ok so i will ask if you want to do lets say a high 150's with 1 or 2 subs what would you get a DVC 1ohm or a DVC 4ohms ? (amp stable @ 1ohm )

me? i would go 2ohm dvc and wire that 1ohm amp to a .5ohm load if i was just going for numbers. but for your example, i would go with 4ohm subs because parallel is louder than series. but you will be hard pressed to find a serious SPL sub with 4ohm coils.

If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood.
