Installing a LOC in a BMW with HK

I have an 04 E46 and have done a lot of researching.

The HK headunit sends a differential signal to the amp in the trunk.

So you either need an amp that accepts differential inputs or a converter.

I'm surprised going off of the speaker leads didn't work at all.

You can change out the headunit for a single DIN unit but the dash needs some modification to go double DIN.

I'm in the same boat trying to upgrade....

What do you use to interface the HU with the amp(s)?

BTW, what do you suggest for ipod connectivity with the stock HK HU?

My car currently has a Dice Silverline and the sound quality is terrible...lots of static, pops and squeaks.

Not tryin' to threadjack, just wanted to toss a couple questions out there while we at it.

If its 51 or up you cant add the factory aux yourself.

thanks for the help everyone i installed a new LOC and it yielded no change... I guess i will rip it all out and start fresh again... not sure why I'm having such fits given the simplicity of the task

Cause your still grabbing a band pass signal.

If I go to the deck would I be using the wires you described in your earlier post?

Yes.

Blue twisted pair and yellow twisted pair.

Red stripe should be front, brown stripe rear

I see from the manual that the SRI has balanced (differential) inputs.

Might be why you don't see any signal issues from the stock HU.
