Hello smd people's Im almost done with my box I finally ported it and now im bumping.the only problem now is the box is at 45hz,I would like to get it to 35 or so..My specs are internal measurement 15"high 31"long 18"1/2deep.I have 2 port walls inbetween the 2 12's.from port wall to box wall is 12"1/2 inches and the port walls measurement is 15x12"1/2 and they are spaced 4inch's apart...someone said that i should make an L shaped port to drop the hz my only question is,how long should the last cut be (15x???) it would come off the port wall and block off some of the chamber depth i just need to now the length to reach 35hz.. ,Recap box is 15"inch tall,31"inch long and 18"deep(front to back) 2 walls in the middle for the port they are 15"tall and 12"deep or long and they are spaced 4"inches apart which leave each speaker with 12"1/2 inch's wide of chamber space and 18"1/2 deep not counting the port wall that stops 12"1/2 inch's deep ...Thank you very much to who ever respond's

did this used to be a sealed box or something? just because you said "I finally ported it".

yes you can just add a port bend and lower tuning. HOWEVER, you really shouldnt be doing it that way. you need to design a box thats made to have a port that long and rebuild it. why? because as you add to the port length, you take away airspace inside the box. lets say you started with a sealed box with 3 cubic feet internal space. now you add a port, of appropriate size, and you would be down to 2 cubic feet, or less. so your subs wont have enough airspace to play properly. this will cut output, sound bad, and might damage the sub (depending on your application)

If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood.

thanks dude.I'll probably just leave it alone, the box was suppose to be ported origanlly but i didnt. I built the port walls but never cut the port hole out.I just did and now the speakers look like there not working as hard and it's way louder.someone mentioned that i should add the walls to drop to 35 or so hz.but i guess i wont, thank you.also could you explain the difference between 45hz and 35hz.if i was at 35hz would i be louder...Thanks again for answering my thread have a good night..
