I'm starting to think an entry-level, cheap woofer isn't the way to go just yet... The concept would be good to start getting my name out as a good brand but with the cost of magnets the way they are, there's no way I can start producing entry-level woofers without them being over $200 a sub. That's way more than what I wanted to selling them for. I got in contact with Don @ Global Audio Source, and from what he told me it's going to take a huge investment due to the minimum order being 1,000 pieces. This wouldn't be such a problem, other than I would be balls-deep in debt. Not to mention, that's for the magnets only, I would also have to order top and bottom plates seperately without cost of shipping! On a positive note, I now have access to faux carbon fiber cones and dustcaps. They cost a little more than the non-pressed paper, but actually look better than the real CF! Also, due to a number of questions regarding the 8 inch "booby" dustcaps, I now have access to those as well! If you guys have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to ask! Edit: Forgot to add, I have a number of people on CL interested in my subs now so I should be ordering my parts within the week! My supplier has an older MTX Thunder 8000 motor he would sell me. He said it's a really nice motor, great shape, and the thing I like about it is that it's a large single-slug motor. No having to worry about getting a correct fit!
