there will be no ability to use the home button in this install. Theres nearly nothing that gestures cant do in place of it, so thats my solution.

Go to accessibility then asistive touch and you can do it. My ipod home button is broken so thats how I go home on mine

I meant by what I said that there is no need for a home button. iPad has gestures which can do the same function as the home button just using a pinch on the screen. iPhone and iPod do not have this. Assistive touch is a whole other thing.

Ok so its been a minute since I have updated any build pix so Im gonna catch you guys up...

The Aluminum channel that the ipad slides into.

The 5mm thick backplate that connects the ipad bezel to the slides for motorization. It was machined down 1.5mm to make the channel aluminum sit flush in there and the front has been rounded over to make a nice transition for the ipad going in the slot. My Neighbor has been extremely helpful by getting the aluminum from scrap bin (and many other random parts) for me and having it cut down. I reworked it a tad and this is what I came out with.

Did some more work on the backplate and covered it with the same vinyl from earlier in the build so it matches everything. Its what you see when theres no ipad docked up. The backplate is attached to the large angle iron pieces i have mated together and bent at 11 degrees to accomodate the difference of the ipad and the angle the slides need to be at to function. Also plainted the slide mechanism (this is basically an extremely moddified keyboard slideout tray also provided by my neighbor).

Then I decided the channel would look better black even though it shouldnt be seen. It will be helpfull if the felt that will cover the channel shows any at its edge so just in case....
