BASS KNOB HELP

Hey guys i just put in the rockford fosgate peq to my amp which is p1000-1bd and i have 2 rockford fosgate p3 4ohm and there wierd into the amp at 4 ohms and when the bass knob it is on zero just like how it was tuned but then when i turn the bass knob up the lows hit a lot harder but if i turn it up all the way the highs distort so i keep it somewhat down when the highs come on .. but when i turn it up it becomes alot louder and i was wondering if that would hurt the subs at all ... i smelled something nothing big the subs are brandnew and in a brandnew box so i dont know if im just beening to worried about it ... but when it hits the lows its hard and clean soo if i could just get some advice that would be great .... thanks

Sometimes bass knobs are just a bass boast knob and thats why it could be getting louder and at times distorted.

Most bass knobs are pretty much like gain knobs and they tend to distort like hell. I use RCA type knobs way better IMO

Just try to find out when it starts to distort when you turn the knob and dont go pass that point. Give it a shot.
