Tuning on Paper?

I have a Mac and am unable to get Torres' box calc. So i have always found out how big of a box i needed and used the12volt.com to calculate the tuning. But I have heard that their calcs can be off and whatnot... so I wanted to know how people, who dont have Torres, calculate the tuning of their ports.

I look at other people's builds and see them with these massive ports and they really dont seem to be that long. But every time I design a box with a higher amount of port area I always get a ridiculously long port, and I dont know why. Thanks for helping anyone.

I like to design for fun so I really want to be able to do it with a pen, paper, and calculator. :)

Well since you have to explore design options is almost impossible to do that without software, if you just want to know how to do it for fun that's different, take a look at this

The Torres can run on mac with the help of a virtual machine - like virtualbox.

I can calculate a box for you if you need.
