ummm.....

Those are not relays... LOL

They are error code eliminators. They are needed when the vehicle has the option of notifying the driver with a dummy light that he has a burned out bulb.

A lot of the newer Crysler, Dodge, and Jeep have that, but some of them dont, as well as some volvo, benz, bmw, audi.

When the vehicle is equipped with the headlight option to notify the driver, it will try to turn the headlights off to prevent farther damage. Without the error code eliminators the hid lights will pretty much strobe when the vehicle is running, but will work perfectly fine when you turn the lights on without the car running, or when you turn the key forward but not actually start it.

You can also use a capacitor to do the same thing if you are using a relay kit, but those pictured are not relay kits...

In my personally opinion Id run a relay harness on any and every set of HIDs on the vehicle, no matter what it is, it allows the power to be drawn straight from the battery and not thru the stock electrical system which may not support the added current demand when the HIDs are first turned on until they warm up. After they are warmed up they will use less power than standard halogen bulbs.

There are 2 ways to fix this issue without buying the expensive error code eliminators, and a quick trip to a radio shack!

If your not using a relay harness you can goto radio shack and buy TWO 4700uf 35volt capacitors and attach them into the power plugs that plug into the ballasts like so:

Or if you are using a relay harness, you just need on, and stick the ends into the relay socket and plug the relay back in like so:

In both methods, 1 prong goes to the positive wire (or terminal in the relay socket) and one goes to the negative.

This method will stop any flicker on vehicles with this issue, and only cost you about $5 from radio shack. Id suggest buying a spare capacitor or 2 just in case you hook them up backwards, or break a prong off etc.
