What is hurting you is how much the box is restricting the output from the sub and port from getting into the cab of the vehicle. If it was going to be made to tight you might have done better to face it forward and seal off the trunk. Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it.
