Sheena
So i've done some brief reading about Alpha Damp and have read that its "mainly" for straight surfaces. My question is, could i use it on my trunk lid if i cut it into sections that fit into the holes? or do i need to do Damp Pro on the lid. Explanation of the issue: my trunk latch slams against the trunk lid locking mechanism and is quite noticeable from inside the vehicle and out. this is quite embarrassing. what i believe is happening is, the vibrations are moving the trunk latch forward some which loosens the trunks seal and makes the trunk lid connecting/locking mechanism slap against the latch. toadking90
You can always cut it up and put it where it needs to go. That pic looking down? Is the plastic that's kinda loose what you are talking about mostly?
Sheena
yeah the second pic is looking down, where the trunk lid meets the latch. its the locking mechanism and the latch that are rattling horribly. IH8PunkRok
when i did it on my trunk lid i noticed very little improvement i attribute this to the fact that the actual panel was not flexing but the entire lid moving up and down. no amount of dampening will help that Quote -Matt2005 Dodge Magnum RTJVC KD-AVX1 2 PPI S580.2 Obsidian Audio ST1 Horn Tweeters PRV 8MB450s Audio Legion 3500.1D 2 RE MT 18s 360 ah LiFePO4 BatterySHCA 2/0 155.2 @ 29 hzKicker CVR 15's buildDD 3512e buildMini T-Line Build(6) 8s BuildNightshade 15s Wall BuildMagnum AB XFL 12s BuildNewest Magnum Build
Sheena
so what would help? deaden the lid and put a sheet of MDF over the back, kinda like MarioBs new trunk? or am i just being stupid, i dont really know how this stuff works Quote 09 Civic EX KDC-X395 (2) SKAR Audio VVX-12 Skar Audio SK-1500.1 4 cu ft @32 (new box and more port soon) Firing Forward not sealed off Stock 80 Amp Alt Big 3 In 1/0 Knu 2 Runs To The Back 1 Pos 1 Neg In 1/0 Knu DD-1'd 13.8v drop
Second Skin Rep Jon
This might be one of those situations where there is no good solution. Sure, sound deadener may be able to help a little bit but I'm thinking that it won't remedy the situation because of the amount of pressure that you are putting on the latch mechanism. This is typically the limiting factor of most car builds unfortunately. IF you were to proceed with using Alpha Damp on the trunk I would only treat the flat areas between the rids/bracing of the lid and that's all. Is there any adjustment in the latch to allow it to hold tighter? Quote Have a question about Second Skin? E-Mail me!

Is there any adjustment in the latch to allow it to hold tighter? yes sir there is, the latch can be moved forward and backwards about an inch, i move it all the way forward for the tightest seal but because of the vibrations it scoots back. i was thinking about lock washers or welding the piece to that setting. but i had to ask about Alpha Damp because its a vibration issue Quote 09 Civic EX KDC-X395 (2) SKAR Audio VVX-12 Skar Audio SK-1500.1 4 cu ft @32 (new box and more port soon) Firing Forward not sealed off Stock 80 Amp Alt Big 3 In 1/0 Knu 2 Runs To The Back 1 Pos 1 Neg In 1/0 Knu DD-1'd 13.8v drop
