installed alt now I'm at 12.3v. please help

Recommended Posts

i just put on my dc power 270 amp alt and now from idle all the way up to 3000 rpm it sits at 12.3. I have tested it with a damn and it matches my VM in my car. with stock alt I stayed around 14.4 until I turned my system up it would drop to the low 13 high 12 now it's dipping down to the 11s and idea what might be my problem?

Same thing happened with my singer alternator! I'm switching pulleys today and seeing if it fixes my problem

well what would be the cause and how does pulleys fix it? are you getting bigger ones? when it comes to engines and even alts I know little to none.

Sounds like the alternator isn't turned on. Check your connections and if you're still having problems call us. It's nothing about the alternator's turn on speed if it's constantly at 12.3 volts. Also, what vehicle?

A smaller pulley would cause the alternator to see higher rpm
