97wht3800
Alright im a newb here but follow steve on youtube and have been into audio since I got a car.. First problem is with my subs... they were working fine and now if I turn them up the amp shuts off but comes back on in about 10 seconds.. I havent changed anything and did check all the wires.. maybe something loose? I dont see a reason for the amp to go into protect.. any ideas? Alright now my deck problem, I have a 2002 gmc yukon and am trying to hook up a pioneer 7 inch fold out, I know there are wire harnesses that you can connect but it seems like you could find a remote wire off the factory wire harness.. any help on this would be good... and once i figure that out how hard would it be to move the deck down to where the factory tape deck was? I dont have a problem mounting it I was more wondering about moving the wires down to that location... Thanks for any help, Dave
Rebel4055
Sounds like voltage protection. Where is your ground and is it on a sturdy piece of metal and is it sanded down all the way. Proper sized wiring too? What are the gains set to? Partially blown fuse? Quote Rest In Peace mother. Proper sized wiring too? What are the gains set to? Partially blown fuse? x2 check gains, some amps will protect if gains are to high causing clipping. also about the remote wire, you can connect the remote wire from the amp to the red wire on the back of most head units. 97wht3800
The ground is sanded down and the proper size,, ill check the gain in a second but this setup has worked for over a year with no problems at all.. As far as the deck problem I wasnt very clear, it has the remote for the subs but on newer gmc trucks its a pita to put in a aftermarket deck.. you need a harness to connect to the new deck (not a normal wiring harness) because theres a seperate connect for the factory amp which I dont want to use... Guest
are you sure ALL the connections to the amp (at the fuse holder, at the wire lugs, etc) are tight and sturdy?
97wht3800
Only thing i didnt check was the fuse holder... Im going to check on my break here in a minute.. Anyone have advice on the deck connection?
BFF Larry
so you dont have the aftermarket wire harness for your vehicle? or are you trying to bypass Quote Team Clearly Louder (MECA)Team DC Audio ++* SELLING the CACTUS SOUNDS K12 for $1550 shipped *++ HMU!!! 3 flips. nollie flips. big flips. hardflips. - steez Youtube Channel My Build Log 95 Bonneville SSE - WALLED/4th Order - ~30 cubes - *thanks LoganBerry, CortezDVT, Cj18, SuperCharged DC, Ryan-RAM Designs,LoudNLow931*
97wht3800
Well I messed with the amp (kicker 1250.1 digital) it keeps saying service when it cuts out but I reset it and it seems to work but still cuts out if I try to change any of the settings... @ BBF Larry I have the wiring harness but it needs one to make the speakers work with an aftermarket deck and I have heard that you can bypass them to make the deck work but no luck so far... is there a way to find a wiring diagram for these trucks? BFF Larry
So the headunit turns on, but no sound because of the additional wire harness needed just to run the speakers. Does the kicker amp turn on still? 97wht3800
The deck won't turn on at all because the factory amp isnt sending power to it, I need to know if theres a wire I can use for this or if I have to buy the extra harness... Yea the amp comes on I ran some rca's off the stock sub wires to the amp... I have a stockk deck right now( I know its lame but I just moved and my deck and all my audio stuff is in storage) I reset the amp and it seems to work fine but if I change any setting it turns off again and says "service" on the digital screen...
