jmanjr82 Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 To go along with my moving sale I found this in my back room of audio goods! A freshly reconed RD 18 D2. A little history on this woofer: It was a 12 originally and I used it my first year in competition in midwestspl. My highest score was 148.3 using 2 Rd 3250s for power peaked at 48hz. The box was tuned at 38hz and seemed to be some what musical, because at the time I used it for dual purpose daily and comps. The score was done with a clamped 3832watts. I was screwing around (back as a noob) and played well below tuning and unraveled part of the coil. The sub still however played and I did a 147.7 the rest of the year to finish out the comp season. Then I decided to upgrade and run multiple subs and didnt really have a need for such a monster so around that time the 18in woofer crazy was taking place so I said what the hell lets get it as a 18 talked to then owner Steve at RD and came up with a 18in kit of soft parts that would be more SQL its (soft parts) are geared from the HW soft parts the motor is a SHW motor and the basket is off an atomic apx and recone glue etc from Aq. The sub has never been mounted since the recone, ran with 1000watts to see if it worked and to ensure it had no coil rub etc. SO as the sub sits its brand new waiting for someone to buy it. its rated at 5k rms 20k max will work for daily and/or comps onto the pix: in the picture that is a 1 liter sprite bottle.
