MarkHammer Posted March 31, 2012 Report Posted March 31, 2012 So my brother moves to arizon and leaves me with a beater 97 saturn sc2, so I see daily driver, money saved in gas = park my jeep and switch my system. So here is what i have tried : TWO 15 kicker cvr's and even tried a pair of fosgate p3's ported box in back seat tuned to 35hz 1200rms from my last box posts; box facing front, roof and trunk seats down. Sound runs flat at mid volume then distortion UNTIL I OPEN THE TRUNK LID then wow sounds great; forward facing best of all but cant drive around with my trunk open all day, WHY DOES THE TRUNK NEED TO BE OPEN guessing not enough airspace in vehicleUnlike my jeep I take all weekend and build a slightly smaller sealed box 20x20x40 od have the same issue a little better but exact same issue. So i take all the seats out which clears up a few sq ft and thats a no go. So i take it a step further and block off the hole between the driver compartment and trunk subs still in back seat and still no resolve. Take it all out hook up 4 twelves two in trunk and two in back seat (both sealed boxes) still sounds like crap. Only run just 2 twelves sounds the best but no where near what i would like to have ? I WOULD LIKE 15's just dont understand I have put alot of systems in alot of different cars and have never had this prob. Scratch that 1 time (old school tarus 95ish bandpass box sounded the best in the trunk but that was b4 even learned how to build ported boxes). HOWEVER Anyone with similar issues with smaller cars ext Please gimi a hand here my back is getting sore from having to tear the front seat of this car so many times Please!!!
new guy Posted March 31, 2012 Report Posted March 31, 2012 that happened too me too when i had my subs in my back seat it was way louder with the trunk open. the only real solutions to your problems is to either seal off your subs from your trunk or fire them facing the trunk. also dont mix sub brands/ models. *current* 1991 honda crx si 2 skar audio 12s pioneer 6.5s dual 400 watt amp audio technix db 1/0 wiring kit. dual head unit

CLNFREAK Posted March 31, 2012 Report Posted March 31, 2012 its an air space issue .. I have told people before 12's are the right subs for a trunk ..... do 2 12's in the right box and you will be happier ask this guy..... sensai_v3.6 about my car with "little" 12's .... I do a 147.4 average on music from a trunk
