Probe Alpine double din/DC/Audioque/CDT

Recommended Posts

Well, the ol probe hasn't had anything in it since I took the wall out and let my sister drive it for a year and a half, but now I have it back and figure I might get around to fixing it back up. Enough talk, pics.

Anyways, a double din wasn't in the plans when this car was built, so I had some rearranging to do. I forgot to take before pics, but imagine the air controls in the second slot down. moved them down to where there was a pocket. It isn't pretty yet, I might make it prettier later

Cut the divider on the inside till the thing would fit.

Then cut the trim panel. This one actually came out of my old probe, so I can always throw the stock one back in if I take the double din out. I trimmed it a bit better later, eventually ill probably do some glassing work to get it looking good. But not important right now.

Ran wires for the bluetooth mic and alarm reciever through the a pillar

Wires, wires, I love wires!

Lost my router so had to rely on a jig saw. Here is partial progress, forgot to take a picture of the finished port.

IMAG1242.jpg

Also forgot to mention Im also doing a smaller build for the gf, single 12 in a sealed box on about 150 watts.

IMAG1243.jpg

The port.

12" box inside the 18" box

IMAG1247.jpg

Box mostly together and port in.

IMAG1250.jpg

Painted the parts of the port that might be hard to get to later.

IMAG1251.jpg

Forgot to take pics with the top on, but due to the thin top I didn't want to screw the corner, so decided to "clamp" it with a nice 100lb bag of sand.

IMAG1252.jpg

Then threw another on for good measure.

Realized I hadn't really shown much equipment yet. So here ya go.

IMAG1267.jpg

Just kidding!

IMAG1268.jpg

Since the router is mia, had to go back to old school, and make circles and stuff and use a jigsaw :WTFBubble:

Don't have a compass that big, so had to take matters into my own hands.

IMAG1269.jpg

Tada!

IMAG1270.jpg

Is it perfect? No. Is it perfect enough? Yeup!

IMAG1271.jpg

Not permanently mounted.

IMAG1272.jpg

More tomorrow.

Spent most of the day finishing taking stuff off two cars so they could go to the scrapyard. Here is the almost finished box for the gf. Got one more cote after this to smooth stuff out, just a textured paint, I like it.

IMAG1275.jpg

Put my old alpine in her car.

IMAG1276.jpg

For lack of a better place to put it, put the box in the probe to see how it would fit. Just barely does so, perfect.

IMAG1277.jpg

Dirty car from college life, but whatevs.

IMAG1278.jpg

Tossed in the unit to see how it would look. As stated ill be putting the trim on it eventually, and probably modifying the panel a bit.

IMAG1279.jpg

Lots to do tomorrow.

Doing crap like this is how I spent most of the day. However, now I have a not broken exhaust, a parking brake (which hasn't worked the 3 years ive had the car) and I got the 0 gauge ran.

IMAG1292.jpg

Finished the box

IMAG1288.jpg

Another test fit

IMAG1297.jpg

Set the sub in to get it out of my way
