here is something i had for a long time it works perfect in great condition alpine dat player it came out i think in 1989 for about $1500 i found it on ebay for $150 about 8 years ago still works great no problems i thought i share this

Yup its a oldie but goodie the sound quality is awsome cd quality dat tapes play digital sound just like the recording studios alisas multi track adat

DAT was just a bit better than CD I believe... 16 bit @48Khz over 44.1Khz for CD IIRC
