So... Rebuild of Current System.

I'm hoping SOON to do a rebuild of my current system. Probably around the same time I get my new power wire for my amp, to avoid doing the same thing twice.

Plans?

-Upgrade wiring.

-Sealing 12s facing forward into cab of car

-Redoing my fix on my rear deck

-Adding my amp onto my rear deck

-Possibly building a box for my subs instead of using the prefab. BTW! Prefab box I'm currently using is sealed, giving both subs 1ft³ each and they run best at 1.02ft³ in a sealed box (RF website says they're optimized for sealed enclosures, although I'd be up for giving a vented box a try).

-Maybe changing over to a "normal" battery from my current GM battery?

Let me explain what I'd like to do with each of these.

I'm going with 0awg, although 4 would get the job done, I'd rather over kill something than underkill. Kinda like double-tap.

As far as sealing the subs into the trunk, I want to make an mdf ring that would fit around the outside of the opening from the cab into the trunk. I'll use tape and possibly foam to fiberglass a cone type shape from the box to the mdf ring. Once it's finised and attached there will be weather stripping around the mdf ring to seal it off. Basically, the box will be sealed into the cab, but it won't be almost permanent. This way I can do things like get to my spare tire if I had to, and most importantly, expand on my system without too much of a de-build. I'll have to get pictures and draw some things out to explain it, but I hope ya'll get what I'm talking about.

Being that it's so late and I really don't feel like reposting the fix on my rear deck to this thread, here it is from the Malibu Forum.

Basically, I want to use some half inch mdf or plywood and put it on top of my deck as the speaker baffle so that the deck will sit in the car a little better this time, being that there's a huge gap that the can see at the back window. I'll mount my amp in the big space in the lower center of my speakers, and make a removable cover to go over that that will make my speakers and my amp look recessed. This will give me much easier access to my amp, and I'm thinking that my amp might stay a little cooler mounted in my car where A/C is almost always on full blast.

As far as going to a custom box and trashing the prefab, what do you guys think? It's done it's job fine so far. There's no leaks, and like I said it's .02 away from being the ideal enclosure for my subs. I also polyfilled it to see what difference it would make. It actually made a bigger difference than I thought it would. I would like to give a ported box a shot if I can get the money for some wood. Might need a little help with deisgn since I'm a little new to it. Well, thinking about it more each subs chamber is 1ft³, and that's not considering displacement of the subs...

Like I said, I'm new to this.

I have found it extremely hard to get my power wire attached to the normal GM battery and posts. So would a different battery and new terminals definitely be a good investment?

I'm hoping to get a build going pretty soon, but I'm in the middle of a financial crisis, so it's hard to find the extra funds for it.
