Replacing speakers...educate me.

Recommended Posts

Have a 2003 Bravada. I have sony 6 1/2's in the front right now. I am getting components and put the tweets in the A pillar.

4 channel amp is 125W RMS.

Should I be looking for speakers with matching RMS ratings or will 80 - 90W RMS speakers be just as good (as long as the amp is set correctly of course) Is there a significant performance difference?

I'm looking at Alpine SPR-60C 110W RMS

MTX TX6 90W

Infinity Reference 6030cs 90W

Other suggestions are welcome

What should I replace the rear door speakers with? Full range, mid bass driver, etc?

Headunit - Sony DSX-200X

Subs - (2) Modified American Bass 18's

Monoamp - DD M4

Front Stage - CDT HD62-AS components with

4 Crescendo PWX 6.5

4 Channel Amp - Hifonics ZRX1000.4

Cadence 0 gauge

Singer 275 amp Alt

D7500 XS Power battery

Quad 1/0 input Toolmaker terminals

SMD OM-1

RGB LEDs

Personally I would do comps in all doors and what is your budget like for 2 pairs of speakers? I am a stickler for matching equipment so if you can go all MTX I would honestly go all MTX. If you have a good budget then you can go with a higher end comp set up. 2-way set up is good but a 3 way in the front and 2 way in the back would be a nice look.

I like matching too but am just going with what works with a given budget with what i want to do. so ultimately i will have hifonics zxr 1000.4 and brz2400.1. MTX subs and box is staying.

Looking to spend around 300 ...200 max for comp set and then 125ish for rear speakers. MTX sounds good but i have always had mtx so i am opening up my options if there is just as good or better for the same price.

Polk db6501 and Kappa 60.9cs looked nice too.

What is a good sensitivity rating number to look?

if you're looking for screechy, go with infinity. I would personally go with rf. they've sounded the best in my car and in others I've installed

Polk speakers don't get loud for the power you throw to them. it's strange. a direct swap from Polk to rf made a huge difference in quality and loudness
