Big 3 and alternator questions

Hey guys thanks for reading but I was wondering if you guys could help me out with some wiring questions.

I drive an 02 jeep grand cherokee V8 with stock alt and wiring. If I want to hook up a 1k watt amp, will I see drastic drops in voltage? I just mainly want to know if it will hurt not to do big 3 or get a new alt. I have no clue how many amps the alt is and I'm not sure if the wiring is thicker in a v8? Trying to save some cash, any help would help thanks guys.

edit: the big 3 can NEVER EVER hurt a vehicle. its impossible

your stock alt is 136amp according to a google search for replacement for 2002 v8 grand cherokee

Ya I checked that out but was unsure if that was the same amount given off by the stock one or if the replacement gave off more. Lack of knowledge on cars doesn't help .

Quick heads up too. Do the big 3 in some quality 0 gauge. You wont have to redo it later if you decide to upgrade your system. I made the mistake of doing all my wiring in 4gauge and now I am probably moving to a bigger amp so i have to replace it all with some 0.
