Junior Russell Posted September 10, 2013 Author Report Posted September 10, 2013 ah ok that makes sense and running 2 12's in my old box i had a 4x6x6 port which took it up to 40 hz should i just drop the port? also would the box itself have enough cubes for 2 15's? http://www.youtube.c...e1?feature=mheehttp://www.stevemead...87#entry1993187 JVC KD-R530 head unit VVME INNO-D1500 sub amp Kenwood KAC-8402 amplifierPioneer 2-way 6.5 X2 @ 4 ohms DTI Audio 6.5 X2 @ 4 ohmsbox: 4.24 ft^3 tuned to 61 hertz (port walls fell off and dissapeared )
CleanSierra Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 If you find some 15s that are happy in 2.5 cubes a piece, yes you have enough space. It sounds like the port on your last box was way too small as well. You should do a simple L-port that is the height of the box(1.5" shorter to allow for the .75" of MDF on top and bottom) and see what kind of port area you can get. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
genesis Posted September 11, 2013 Report Posted September 11, 2013 this is really reminiscent of that ghost guys build.
Junior Russell Posted September 11, 2013 Author Report Posted September 11, 2013 hows that look man? http://www.youtube.c...e1?feature=mheehttp://www.stevemead...87#entry1993187 JVC KD-R530 head unit VVME INNO-D1500 sub amp Kenwood KAC-8402 amplifierPioneer 2-way 6.5 X2 @ 4 ohms DTI Audio 6.5 X2 @ 4 ohmsbox: 4.24 ft^3 tuned to 61 hertz (port walls fell off and dissapeared )
CleanSierra Posted September 11, 2013 Report Posted September 11, 2013 I don't know what kind of music you listen to but 45 Hz seems a bit high to me. For my personal taste anyway Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
Junior Russell Posted September 11, 2013 Author Report Posted September 11, 2013 yeah i mostly listen to decafs stuff and it seemed high to me too i was trying to get around 35 (i think that shoud be good enough to drop to the lows and up to bout 40 nicely) or so while maintaining the larger port but i guess i just dont know how to use the torres lol would it be 4 common walls if it were to wrap around behind the subs or something different? thanks for your help btw after fideling around just now dropping the port width to 4" and 20" long puts it right at 35 hz but for it to be 4 " wide do i leave it as 4 or do it raise or drop it any or what? http://www.youtube.c...e1?feature=mheehttp://www.stevemead...87#entry1993187 JVC KD-R530 head unit VVME INNO-D1500 sub amp Kenwood KAC-8402 amplifierPioneer 2-way 6.5 X2 @ 4 ohms DTI Audio 6.5 X2 @ 4 ohmsbox: 4.24 ft^3 tuned to 61 hertz (port walls fell off and dissapeared )
Junior Russell Posted September 14, 2013 Author Report Posted September 14, 2013 ok so small update... after spending some time with my girl and her mom today i suprised the hell out of both of them by disappearing and reappearing with an engagement ring (story short she said yes) its official now... sad part my build is going to go even slower now as i have to start saving now onto what i actually got done on the car after getting back to town i stopped by walmart and picked up some cheap model paint and started this: sorry no actual before picks but everyone knows what it looks like stock started by removing the dash cluster from the car (6 screws for me) removing the clear and trim plastic (all clips for me) then used a fork to pop off the needles marking each possition just enough to line it up for re-install took this and started scraping the paint on the backside down to this then the 97 cent paint and some q-tips created this almost done btw i recomend after having now done this myself, put the cluster in with out the needles and the engine ice cold, turn the key to the on possition, that way all the needles minus the batt if you have one and gas are at zero and you can put the needles where there supposed to be, for the bat and gas use the small marks you made to line them up. if you dont you might end up with this with key on engine off and a lot higher sitting at idle but after having done what i suggested it will look like this when key in on engine off and yes my temp gauge is right engine on at idle better shot of the gas gauge looks better in person crappy iphone 3g camera i did 4-5 coats (3 light 1-2 heavy) for good measure and it turned out really nice then only thing im not 100% about is the speedo needle i think it might be off slightly next step will more than likely be blue led bulbs to back light the dash ac controls and shifter let me know what yall think and if you know of anyway to check the speedo's accuracy im all ears http://www.youtube.c...e1?feature=mheehttp://www.stevemead...87#entry1993187 JVC KD-R530 head unit VVME INNO-D1500 sub amp Kenwood KAC-8402 amplifierPioneer 2-way 6.5 X2 @ 4 ohms DTI Audio 6.5 X2 @ 4 ohmsbox: 4.24 ft^3 tuned to 61 hertz (port walls fell off and dissapeared )
genesis Posted September 14, 2013 Report Posted September 14, 2013 innovative! I just went through a nightmare with my cluster . you could check speedo against a phone app (if you have a smart phone) with gps. or a portable gps..
Junior Russell Posted September 14, 2013 Author Report Posted September 14, 2013 Thanks man I got the idea after finding the led bulbs on ebay looked for premade needles on eBay with no luck then after checking Google came across a video of a guy with the same car/dash doing it to his and for a $1 investment I'm happy with the results. how so? nightmares are often easy to figure out with a second perspective. Yeah I have an iPhone 3g but the WiFi, gps, and Bluetooth antenna went out on it http://www.youtube.c...e1?feature=mheehttp://www.stevemead...87#entry1993187 JVC KD-R530 head unit VVME INNO-D1500 sub amp Kenwood KAC-8402 amplifierPioneer 2-way 6.5 X2 @ 4 ohms DTI Audio 6.5 X2 @ 4 ohmsbox: 4.24 ft^3 tuned to 61 hertz (port walls fell off and dissapeared )
