I have a '96 tahoe and got qouted $500-600 for a excessive alt from a nearby car audio store. my question is should I have the alt rebuilt by an alt shop to up the amps or not even f with it and just buy one built for the job. Not really worried about the price, just want to know the pro's and con's of each if possible. And ya know I appreciate any of you guy's (or girls) advice. BTW running 8 12" Alpine type R's (the older 500 rms one's) a hifonics 400.4, 2 sets of alpine sps-610c, hifonics brutus elite 2500.1D and hc1200 kinetik capcell...and a bullshit power acoustic 9.3" detachable face HU.

I'll let one of the more knowledgeable guys chime in here, but IIRC rebuilding alts for higher output isn't as good as an actual H/O alt. My Channel on YouTube.
