JeffreySavory Posted May 13, 2012 Report Posted May 13, 2012 hey guys, im looking in adding these two infinity speakers to my doors, i dont have much experience with fiberglass and not really looking to fiberglass unless im re-enforcing it from the back, i just want to cut out a whole and screw the speaker in. not sure on the clearence but want to know if it will work before i cut a whole in my door's! thanks
Toby Ratcliffe Posted May 13, 2012 Report Posted May 13, 2012 The problem with doing that, is that the speaker sound will sound muffled because it is firing directly into the side of your seat. Why not use the factory location above your window crank?
JeffreySavory Posted May 13, 2012 Author Report Posted May 13, 2012 i have my kicker ks68 in my doors, and i dont feel like making a mount to switch them around...i just want something louder for when i have my doors open.. i just dont want to fiberglass them
Toby Ratcliffe Posted May 13, 2012 Report Posted May 13, 2012 It will look like crap, and sound like crap when the door is closed. But it is your car. Have fun cutting her up.
Kevin M Posted May 14, 2012 Report Posted May 14, 2012 There is another option. Kickpanels. Yes, you don't want to fiberglass but it is a lot easier than people think. You could build a pair in like 8 hours of work. It would be worth the extra time and effort. Why is there a need to have the doors open? Unless you are building a large system for demos and 145+db you might be better off focusing all that energy back into the vehicle. 2005 Ford Focus zx4 AMT's and Planars 18" Infinite baffle
b-dubs89 Posted May 14, 2012 Report Posted May 14, 2012 i was thinking of doing that with a 98 malibu but when i got the door panel off it started to appear to be a no go due to the layout . if you are confident enough in your self to try and cut a whole in your door panel you should be confident enough to try and break into fiber glass . go to youtube and watch some videos and you will see it is very do-able . still don't want to go there find some pods or kick panels like some one else suggested
