Noob at SQ, Need Help

Recommended Posts

I normally don't advise this but, dip over to diyma and read read read.......

Wow ... First time I've ever seen a moderator direct someone to another Car Audio forum for advice ...

To the op ...

First thing I would do is to scout out a couple of shows in your area and listen to a few Sound Quality vehicles to get a idea what it should sound like ...

Second I would find you a nice headunit with great equalization and crossover capabilities ... Please remember that installtion is just as important as product ...

If I'm not mistaken, you have 6.5" driver locations in your doors ... Start looking for good replacement drivers and possible tweeter location up high near or on your A- pillars ...

Like MichiganCapri said ... CDT is a good brand, so is Blues Car Audio ... my brand of choice ...

Best of luck with your build Sir ... Please keep us posted !!!

And I have PLENTY of Sound Quality information you can read here on SMD ... I will post what I have if you like ...

/\ Number One person to talk to on SMD right there about SQ.

I don't ever send people away from SMD but, sometime you need peek at the grass.

My apologies Sir ...

As for the box, It's made to fit in my truck and I don't really have another place for me to put my subs since they'll take up too much space. Here's how the box looks like.

I guess that i just want a great sounding daily driver.

This enclosure should work fine to give you some bass to blend in with your system ... Might want to add a bad of polyfill on each side ....

I wouldn't be entering no SPL competitions with it ... but should be VERY musical 70 htz and down ...

I can't tell ... Is that for 2 8s, 2 10s, or 2 12s ??

Wow that's a lot of great info haha.... thanks...

Now that I've done quite a bit of reading (here and diycaraudio), I want to make this build sound really great... so I don't feel like going a cheap route. That's a lie, I still want to go cheap, but not as cheap as I was initially thinking.

The nearest show that I can go to is in early July. Ima see if I can make it. Who's Jenisa?

I think that I'll try my luck with some 6.5" drivers. Also is image a brand?

The box is made for 12's but I want some nice sounding 10" subs. I can easily make a smaller hole to go over it.

What do you think of fiberglass subwoofer boxes? Are they good for SQ because I was thinking of making a sealed fiberglass sub box on each side instead to free up some space and I don't really plan to enter SPL competitions but I do like going loud though.

So here's a list of what I need to save up for then

Sound dander for all four doors ~$200

Fiberglass box materials (maybe) ~180

2 pairs of drivers and tweeters ~??

Two 10" subs ~$200-250

Sub Amp ~300 or less

Should I get two more amps for the drivers and tweeters?

Talk to cableguy about the Linear Power and what option´s he know´s to those amps (i ment matching speakers).

Other nice sq idea are Soundstream reference amp´s

http://www.ebay.com/...708ee91&vxp=mtr maby if you can wait a little bit, you can get this amp round 50 $ cheaper. Saw that in the last times, now it´s near the first of the month, so the nicer offer´s have to wait, till money is less.

Well I'm definitely going to wait a while because I decided to go spend some more money and it's going to take me a while to save up.

Also, would a foxbox be a better sub woofer box? I'm thinking about getting one of those instead.

Selfmadeboxes in mind threw the specs of the speakers are "the boxes". For the amps they don´t run away, and there realy known for good SQ.

It havent to be Audison or if you big on cash Tru technology´s Super Billet´s.

I kinda want the soundstream now because a local shop here is authorized to sell them which makes things easier for me. I don't mind getting that Soundstream REF5.1000

And I know that Audison is a great amplifier for SQ but that's too expensive for me.
