madmax98 Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 1998 Nissan Maxima stock BOSE system. My question is this. I am installing a new after market head unit JVC KD-R900. Are the stock speakers powered by the stock head unit, or @ speaker? Trying to aviod wiring it up to find out if it will work.
Guest Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 i THINK you need this http://www.amazon.co...i/dp/B0007WTF5C bose systems and the like, generally need a harness that has rca's on it. because the factory amp needs to get the signal through low level inputs (aka the rca cables connected to the pre outs on your aftermarket headunit). unless you do some difficult install work and bypass the bose amp completely, you wont be able to just hook the speakers up to the headunit.

Take the amp out, get a 4 channel, and rerun your wires.
