ZachG Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 Hey got a quick question, I'm looking to pick up a new box tommrow for my 12 but the box I'm looking at is only 1cu ported. My sub says it requires minium of 1.75cu after port. I plan on inverting my sub in it for a temporary box until I put my second 12 in. My question really is what is going to happen if I do this & I have about 22oz of polyfil left over from my old 10 box how my h will that help? 1998 Pontiac grand prix gtp supercharged2 12" Obsidain Audio V.1 on a 2011 zx1500.1 at 2 ohms. 20ft of Knuconceptz CCA 0 Guage. 2nd Battery is a Shurken BT-120. Box is 3.5cu tuned at 31.8hz sealed off from the trunk. 14sqft of Dynamat on the Rear deck top & bottom. Soon to be more for doors/roof. Gets low & loud Did a 140.5 Sealed at Battle of the boom in June 2013 dropping to 12.7v (need a alt mines going bad)
Omega5002 Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 That's waaayyy too small of a box for a 12', and polyfill doesn't help. I've made that mistake before. CleanSierra Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 If its in proper airspace now sealed, don't transfer it too a ported box too small unless you can send more than rated power to it. A proper sealed is MUCH better than an improperly suited ported box. Don't waste your money on that box you're thinking about. Just wait until you get the 2nd 12" and build THAT box ported to specs. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
