if you used the search function on this forum you would have found previous threads about this very topic. KNU Kolossus vs the OFC. is it worth th eextra money?

I'll put it plain and simple so yo udont have to search. A reputible installer to say the least and mod on this site, Ray, has done tests to these wires and have found the actual current carrying capabilities of these wires.

iirc, you can check the thread to double check, but,

KNU KCA @ 17 ft could effectively carry 120-150A . 150 was pushing it.

KNU Kollusses OFC @ 17ft could effectively carry 250A.

everyone on here and in car audio in general knows not to skimp on electrical especially when running amps at half an ohm.

From personal experience, I used to run all KNU 0 gauge KCA because of the price. recently I switched to the KNU Kolusses since it was OFC and because of leanring about differences on here and seeing what other people use. anyways, its been getting pretty hot here in MI, and when you are running power through these wires, they heat up. The only remaining KCA i hav ein my car is a 4 ft run from my sub amp to a secondary bat in rear. Needless to say, after an hour of playtime in 90 degrees the wire was burning hot and starting to melt near my fuse holder. THe Knu OFC was still cool everywhere else on car.

I run a DD M1c which like other quality brands is under rated. and i have a 180 amp fuse inline. so just some food for thought!!

I personally only use OFC, and try to push it on any installs that I do. Fact is these days, most of the people I am doing work for are on a budget, and the savings by using CCA over OFC for them allows them to put that money towards amps, speakers, etc. If you are on a budget, you are def getting a better product from KunKonceptz than you will from one of the budget brands out there. I've usa the Knu CCA cable, and it is prob the one of the better, if not best CCA if that is the route you want to go.
