StreetPoetryProductions
Whats up? Here is a quick intro so you can get to know me & what im all about first of all. My name is Chuch, I am 24 & I have been building/installing car audio systems for over 10 years now. I started studying installs at 12, 13 I was installing car audio decks, amplifiers, speakers, woofers & eqs in my bedroom, 14 I was installing systems in my first car & other peoples cars, 15 I had box building mastered & built enclosures / sold box designs from spl,sq to spl & by 16 people called me a car audio guru. Now 8 years later, I havent gave up my passion for car audio & every car I ever owned has had a system, I have installed 100s of stereos for people & built/designed more boxes then I can ever even think about counting. I do EVERYTHING myself from mechanic work, welding, carpentry, body work etc but I do everything as a hobby for myself. I actually work in the landscaping buisness ( which takes up all my time during spring, summer fall but have all winter off ) During winters I produce beats, songs & do alot of music work for my production company ( Street Poetry Productions ) Anyways, there is a quick intro but now on to this build! Here is my latest project I am going at, bought myself this 1991 honda crx as a daily driver for a new build. Basic car, d15 engine, mods when I got included larger integra front drilled rotars & brake system, aftermarket muffler & tips. 220,000km when I got it in decent shape. Little bit of rust on rear panels/hood & a ding in the front fender. The car was a recovered theft, swapped engine was stolen & car was rebuilt status. passed inspection flawless after I purchased it back in its mostly original form. I paid $1300 for it including a nice alarm system already installed & 2 sets of rims ( both new tires ) winter & summers. I will be going through all kinds of setups in this log because I never keep sub stage for longer then a few months & love to sell to switch up alot. This is not meant for all out SPL build ( tho I may test some for fun in here), im building ground pounder daily setups all tuned low. Im looking for maximum spl in low 30hz range. Lets get right into this, The day I brought the car home.

varietyguy
CRX's are infamous for getting loud at high frequency's. You are gonna have a lot of tweaking trying to get maximum output in the low 30's 1992 Mazda 323 http://www.stevemead...323-wall-build/
StreetPoetryProductions
Here is the first hack job setup in the car, the woofer I got in a trade brand new in box for a blown planet audio bb2400.1 & a broken high end laptop. The amp I had kicking around from previous things I have built & just slapped it together in a daily box to have somthing to run towards the end of winter, begining of spring when the audio work began. The electrical was still stock, alt, battery etc. Just needed somthing to hold me down untill the real building began I dont have any pics of the setup but will post a few videos of it from my youtube. Woofer - 15" RD Audio Alpha v.3 upgraded flat wound coil Here is the video of this setup in action, was not bad but didnt want anything to do with this amplifier & a single 15" in a crx is not effiecent. The setup was stripped out & sold within 2 months of use untill spring actually hit for good. Then the fun really began... Next setup was just a quick spl test build. I bought a dd9515 with 1 blown coil scraping, so I did what any die hard audio guy would do. Rigged up a crx style spl box & plugged that mofo into the wall metering it! Pics of the woofer - Video of all the fun! Kind of long but had a blast making this video! A picture of my dog " Loco " chilling with his head in the cone after I cut the woofer apart when filming the video was said & done - Now the last quick test setup before we get to some real building! Bought this sa-10 d2 & built a nice little ported enclosure for a pair of them for the girlfriend but only had 1 woofer at the time. Decided to put it in the rex real quick of the new amplifier I bought ( crunch gp-3000dpro ) @ 1 ohm just to see how it would take the power & what number it would put out. Ran the setup for maybe 3 days daily with amp on low before making this video then pulled it out again for it to sit around & order another sa-10 for the the woman. Woofer - Here is the quick video of the setup before pulling it out for good - Alright, that is all the playing around I did before getting to the real building...Now that we got these out of the way lets see the good stuff! StreetPoetryProductions
Alright here is the first serious setup in the car. I ended up find a guy local with a gp-3000dpro & I always wanted to try one so I snatched it up real quick. The same guy also has a new version RE Audio XXX Woofer, I thought about it for a week & said F IT! I also always wanted to try one so I bought it to try out for a few months then sell if I didnt like it. Crunch GP-3000dpro 12" RE Audio XXX - The Box Build ( 2.8 cubes after all displacment tuned to 31hz then I changed it to 30hz after pulling it out to paint the box & resin it ) Here is the video of the first testing of this setup. My poor alternator & battery are still stock. Amplifier is turned way DOWN! No speakers in the car except 1 in the back because I was about to start my fiberglass pods! StreetPoetryProductions
Working on the fiberglass pods, 6.5" for front doors & 6.5" for rear of car - Front driver door pod with premier 6.5" installed ( before the 2 sets of tweets on each door was installed ) The pods still needed some finish work but I got sick of having only 1 speaker in the car so put them in early. I am gonna go back to pull them out one day to finish up perfect but for now they will do the trick. The box painted up, stickers applied & glassed it up like crazy! - Anybody down with a little peak - peak action? Here is a video of the finished setup with the 2 tweets in each door & all speakers installed in the car. The electrical was still stock! Amp still turned low during this video but now the car has a aftermarket alternator, all upgraded electrical! Will be posting pics of that soon when I get them off the camera but for now am shutting her down & relaxing for the night. My goal with this single 12 setup was 145db tuned low & it has already been achieved as of today! @ 34hz. More videos, pictures coming soon! Keep tuned... StreetPoetryProductions
CRX's are infamous for getting loud at high frequency's. You are gonna have a lot of tweaking trying to get maximum output in the low 30's I know all about crxs haha. Anyone can take a rex, throw some stuff in tuned high to peak at the res frequency and get 150db. How many have you seen pull 150db in the high 20hz range to the low 30hz range? Not a whole lot. When im completely finished in the end, looking for 150db from 28-34hz. Alot of work and builds to get through to get there no doubt but im not gonna give up untill its done. I enjoy a challenge, so a crx ground pounder is gonna be my weapon of choice! Already got the single 12" re audio xxx to just over 145db @ 34hz. Thats with a single 12 in a very temporary setup. I know not alot of people are going for somthing like this but its gonna be a wicked fun project to play with over the upcoming months. Not sure what setup will make it happen but everyone of the setups along the way & everything from start to finish will be posted up in this thread. So if anyone thinks this is as cool as I do to try, keep posted!
StreetPoetryProductions
where's the "Mad Flex" at? There is alot of work before the car will achieve the status to live up to its name hehe. The build has just began & has a long way to go but keep tuned because soon enough it will have some seriously mad flex! Right now with the 12 re xxx it flexs decently for a single woofer setup tho ( windshield, door windows, door trim, door locks, dash, steering wheel, back bumper, tail lights, etc ) When the build is finally complete at 150db from 28-34hz, thats when the real MAD FLEX will become a reality! Its not going to be this setup because its temporary but plan on buying a second crunch amp soon, adding a pair of batteries in the back & switching up the sub stage! Keep tuned...
