Sub amp went kaput, suggestions for replacement?

Earlier today, I noticed the subs in my daily beater weren't working

Checked the amp and both on-board 20amp fuses were blown <_<

Replaced them and the amp immediately started smoking!! :o

Pulled the amp, stuck it on my bench, added power and surprisingly it still works fine, but it seems to be pulling current even when the remote turn-on wire isn't hooked up (big sparks).

Anyhoo, I'm on the hunt for a replacement.

I'm pushing a pair of original KEF KAR 250B 10" subs (4ohm/svc/200w)

The amp I've been using is a Kicker ZX300.1, which until today has performed flawlessly.

It was a refurb I picked up on FleaBay years ago for $35 bucks, so I can't complain.

With all the newer (smaller) sub amps out there, I figure I'd try sumthin different rather than look for an exact replacement, but here are the basics I'm looking for......

1) Needs to have at least 300w x 1 @ 2ohms

2) Remote Gain Controller (prefer one with a Cat5 since I already have one routed)

3) Must be efficient enough to run all day long (we watch a lot of movies while parked)

4) Size must be equal to or smaller than the current ZX 300.1 (the smaller the better)

5) Soft turn on (I don't do pops)

Suggestions?

OK, I decided on an RF P300-1 (just ordered 5 minutes ago)

Going by the reviews, it seems to be a solid little amp 8)

Question on the PEQ remote.....

Anyone know if it uses the same standard CAT5 cable that my Kicker ZX300.1 uses?
