IndianaBassHead
I am getting ready to order all of my mids/highs in my tahoe. I have always ran coax speakers in previous vehicles as I've never had a big system. I am wandering which will be my best bang for the buck? Should I buy coax speakers and place them in the stock locations in the doors and then buy tweeters seperately? Or should I buy 2 sets of components, but the 4 6.5" in the door and then 4 tweeters in the dash? Any help is appreciated! IndianaBassHead
components are better but what makes them better? Ddub847
basicly 2 speakers against 1. like u said u can place the tweeter where u want it. Also the crossovers are better.
8ight
Having an external crossover rather than capacitors (soldered in various places on coaxs to act as bass-blockers) is a superior signal separation solution. Coaxials lose mid-bass punch due to decreased cone area, however comps with phase plugs instead of dust caps suffer the same consequence but that is unimportant in most standard applications. Coaxials usually have much cheaper, smaller tweeters since they have to fit. Coaxials are nice in the way that all of your sound has one point source however this may place your sound stage at your feet! Why many often opt for components however is: Better sound quality, lower distortion, better imaging with proper installation, more mid bass AND high end response, superior separation, better power handling, more placement options, and bragging rights. IndianaBassHead
That is exactly what I wanted to know. Thanks!
