nidus
I am starting to have issues with my setup for the first time... My voltage has always been ok and has never dropped below 13.6. I have been able to play full tilt while driving for a while but now I am dropping to the low 12's/high 11's and when I get to that point my amp shuts off. I have my bass knob set to less than half and I have a charger hooked up to my batts pretty much every night. Can someone point me in the right direction please? Let me know if any other info is needed... HatersGonnaHate
Go through and check all of your grounds. All of them. Where is everything grounded to? Grounded tight? And also check voltage coming out of the alt. nidus
I will recheck everything again but when I recheked the first time everything looked normal... I didn't check the voltage coming from the alt though... Everything is grounded to the frame... I sanded it down very well and used a star washer with the same gauge bolt and tested. HatersGonnaHate
Well it sounds like you prepared the grounds and grounded them well, but nothing bad can come from rechecking it all. But yea, see what the alt is charging the batteries at. nidus
Did a quick check on the alt at idle and it is charging at about 15 volts at startup with no lights or radio and it tapers off to about 14.5 volts when the car warms up and no longer idling high... HatersGonnaHate
That sounds about normal.... The next step would be to get a amperage draw test on each battery and see if they are on the verge of dying. How may runs of 0ga do you have going from the front to the back? TRTC360
My guess would be you need more electrical, I had multiple people recommend me 3 d3100s plus a 300 amp alt for a single dc3.5k at .5 Quote '93 Firebird Formula V8 H/U- Kenwood eXcelon KDC-X395 Mids/Highs Amp- Hifonics ZXI80.4 Wiring-KNU RCA's, Speaker Wire, And Two Runs Of Trystar 1/0 G34 Red Top and a 180amp Ford Alternator www.youtube.com/TRTC360

In all honesty I only have 1 run... I was told that as long as I have high grade wiring that I would only need 1 run with this application. This thought has been lingering in the back of my head and might have been a mistake.

Also there is no bracket available for a dual alt setup. I might buy another alt anyway and try to frabricate something that will work. HatersGonnaHate
Yea...... Add another run, maybe 2 more runs of 0ga. 1 run can carry only so much current. Multiple runs will only help keep the voltage constant.
