Ported box for Fi Bl 15"

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

i just need some advice about the air port for my Fi Bl 15" box.

the box is about 4.4 cu.ft tuned to 33hz and the sub will be moved by a massive audio p1500.1

Here is a picture of my project:

The measure in the picture are in meters

so you have just to change this:

Green line is about 3.9 inches (air port width)

Red line is about 28.7 inches (air port lenght)

Yellow line is about 16.5 inches (Air port height)

The thickness of the air port is about 0.7 inches

What do you think? the port is too big or it can be good?

With this port i will be able to make some hair tricks and get loud low bass?

and can you tell me also if a thickness of 0.9 inches is good for the box walls?

I'd prefer to have the external dimensions of the box to issue an opinion, also you need know the thickness of the wood you have available or again maybe you won't get what you are looking for.

My thought is 0.9" of thickness for the box walls and 0.7" for the port wall.

And i think the external dimensions are approximated to this:

Box width: 24,8"

Box Height: 20,8"

Box length: 17,8"

Ok,BassMonsterZ you have 4.3 cubic feet but gross volume not net that is you are not accounting for port and sub displacement so your net volume is like 3 cubes tuned to 40Hz, probably higher. I guess this is going to a trunk car because of the dims you use.

I can provide a design (in metric units) for you if you give me the max dimensions you have for a box or you can use the tools and tutorials available here on SMD to make your own.

Thanks for your answers :)

This is just a prototype, i don't own a car (to place the box in my car i want to remove the rear-seats) yet. (i will get the car this september, i already got all the components, i just need the car now :D )

With this box i'm just starting to make me an idea of what the box can be.

Can i have a your contact like msn or skype , or just an e-mail?

so when i get the car i'll contact you for a good box project...

(if you do not mind)
