the DD-1 doesn't gain match.

It does not, but, set your gains with the DD-1, then from there use a DMM to match them to the best of your ability to keep them as close to unclipped power as you can.

thats what i would have done, did it for the pair of amps strapped, took lowest voltage and set both amps to that, but no access to one for a week or so

he didn't ask about setting gains. He asked about gain matching.

But wouldn't setting with the dd-1 then going with the lowest unclipped voltage using a digital multi-meter work?
