using resistors in home audio wiring with multiple speakers

I just scored some decent speaker towers from a goodwill store for $5 a pop. Each came with a 12" woofer, along with a 3" & 4" midrange. I'm going to replace all the speakers/woofers with some cheap speakers from partsexpress. I also would like to replace the wiring as well.

Each speaker is 8ohms and the final ohm load for each tower is also 8 ohms.

All pos and neg wires are connected to the one terminal on the box, but each of the midranges has a resistor (that's what I'm guessing it is, cylindrical looking thing) in the pos line.

Is there an easy way to find out which resistors I need? Can I cut them out and measure with a dmm?

Those would be capacitors to block low frequencies to the mid/high speakers.

If you're using parts expres then look up similar caps/crossovers to match the new speakers.

And I doubt they're resistors. That would just be a waste of power. Plus, I've never seen a cylindrical resistor before. More likely capacitors, like he said.

Do they not have any writing on them?
