iCool247 Posted July 14, 2012 Report Posted July 14, 2012 I had a bigger fuse holder on my power wire but it was for 0gauge so I put a smaller one on. It worked but when I turned my truck off and like an hour later turned it back on, my amp wouldn't turn on. I thought I could have pulled a wire form the the amp terminal. So when I got home I unplugged the power wire from the amp and I accidentally dropped the live power wire on the grounded wire terminal on the amp. No heavy sparks (just a few) but smoke started coming from the mesh vents on the amp where the power and ground terminals are for about 1-2minutes and it stopped. The amp will no longer turn on, did I just fry my amp? '01 2DR GMC JimmyPioneer DEH-6300UBMB Quart 6.5'sSoundown Audio SA 8 V2'sMTX RT-202 GONEAudiopipe AP-1800.1D GONE Bass-less
RMac18 Posted July 14, 2012 Report Posted July 14, 2012 It is possible. I'd suggest checking all your fuses. Power wire, distribution block and on the amp as well, see if you got lucky and just blew a fuse.
