Amp overheating

I pulled my amp and subs out of my old car that i sold, put them into a Nissan Maxima GLE and now the amp is overheating. Plenty of space to breath, even turned down the gain, bass boost, everything.... and to no avail it will go into protection mode after slamming it for about 15 min. I got two JL 12WX's in a sealed box with an older Memphis amp bridged and subs running in parallel at 2 ohms. Why did this work in my old car, and now not in my new car? Any help would be appreciated.

They were probably wired to 8 ohms and didn't stress the amp as much as the lower 2 ohm load is now, it is only a guess though.

Well, here is the listl

We need pictures of your your electical connections, Grounds, Power, in-line fuses ect.

We need exact model number of amp

We need a very detail description of your electrical. I.E. Battery(s), Alternator, Wire etc..

We also need to know how you set gains, o-scope, dd-1, other?

Turn the bass boost off.

What are the e.q. settings on your head unit

What are you xover points and infrasonic at?

We will have more questions after that.

It has always been a 2 ohm load, for years

If its an older amp it probably isnt stable at 2ohms bridged. Older a/b and alot of newer ones are 2ohm stereo 4ohm bridged. Just because it worked before doesnt mean your amp has finally had enough. Mybe your electrical was a little better in the old car..

If the ground was bad, would that cause it to overheat?

Im also getting gauge cluster issues now too.

I would start with the grounds. Did you sand them down to bare metal or just hook to a seat bolt? we need more info to help.

WHERE is the ground, also. thats very important. is it on some bull shit sheet metal thats as thin as a condom?

edit: just a by the way, many 2 channels cant handle 2 ohm stable bridged.

If your now having other electrical issues i would look into your voltage and see if it is able to maintain voltage or if it is dropping cause if you get serious enough drop than your amp will run much hotter than if the voltage were constant.
