Guest
a lot of rock music? he'd probably be better off with a higher tuning like 35-38hz edit: he could even make do with a sealed box if he's just looking for a little extra oomph in the low end Edited July 27, 2012 by Kranny
Chris Hammer
Ninja'd ^ I agree with Kranny. Or you could build a box on the smaller end thats still ported. Usually manufacturers give you a range like 1.5-2 or 1-1.5 or 1-2. pick the smaller side of the range. Worked great for me when listening to Hardcore all the time. GOt more output than sealed but stayed tight and punchy for the double bass. bass_stalker
its mostly the box volume i'm concerned about, 3 cubic foot seems alittle on the big side. and thats what i was figuring for tuning. about 36ish Quote JEEP BUILD PROJECT ANTIBLING.2000 jeep Cherokee.HEADUNITAlpine Cda-9886SUBSTAGE1 acendent 18" audio mayhem motor with a TI basket and tantric parts1 prototype DAT hellfire 1000.1HIGHSStockELECTRICALdb link 0 gaugeKnuconceptz Kolossus 4 gauge1 xs power d3400 under hoodBig 3 upgradeold fourwheeler build The only way to delete your SMD account is for you crawl to steve meades door step on your knees and pleade for his forgiveness and acceptance to be released...He will either grant your wishes.....or choke you with a large piece of 0 gauge and electrocute you by hooking up a solid gold DC 12k at 0.000001 ohm and 10000 volts to your eye sockets and blow your head apart You guys act like you have never clogged a toilet and ran around the bathroom frantically hoping it don't overflow. 412 CVX
i'd give it 2 cubes at 35-38 Quote Just say no to Ground Pounder Customs. bass_stalker
how does this look/ too much port? 412 CVX
I don't think having that much port will hurt, but i think your ratio is a little concerning. shoot for like 1:9 ratio if possible. also, you shouldn't need quite that much bracing. 412 CVX
other than that i'd say it's okay. Quote Just say no to Ground Pounder Customs. bass_stalker
wouldnt the bracing displacement also include 45's? also what does the 1:9 ratio mean? 412 CVX
wouldnt the bracing displacement also include 45's? also what does the 1:9 ratio mean? Yeah, it would. there should really only be two places that 45's should be effective. just to give you an idea, a 45 that's 4.25 wide, 12 inches tall takes up about .03 cubic feet. 1:9 ratio of port width to height.
