Crandis16
really listen to Kranny on this one. You may think that gains are set right, but your preouts on the back of your HU have a big part in setting the gains. I used on O-scope... and I personally didn't know how to work it so I had some help. Find someone in your area through SMD who has a DD-1 and get that problem fixed. learn from the rest of us (me too), do it right so you don't blow a sub and end up paying another $150 to get a recone. Check to see what your impedance is on each coil. If one coil is blown that that makes sense that one would sound louder than the other My Red zx2 Build Log My Black zx2 Build Log My Red zx2 UBL

Guest
same things going on with my kenwoods. but i think my problem is 1 my amps to powerfull and 2 the box your amp is 750rms at 1 ohm. your subs are wired to 2 ohms on that amp (assuming in parallel). so the amp is giving out like 400w. you're clipping the subs because you're pushing the amp too hard. most likely because you think "it should be louder than this". its just a guess, but its happened so many times before.
