1. Build your box

2. add a layer of bondo

3. sand starting with 100 grit up to 220 grit

4. 3-4 coats of primer

5. sand with 400grit

4. 3-4 coats of color

5. sand with 800 grit

6. 4-5 coats of clear

7. sand with 800, 1000 ,1500, 2000 grit paper

6. polish with rubbing compound

7. polish with scratch remover

8. wait 3-4 weeks for paint to fully cure and hit it with a good car wax

You can use regular krylon spray paint with this method and get GREAT results It will honestly polish to a mirror finish, The key is to take your time and make sure each layer of paint is FULLY DRY before you move on to the next step.

Also when you paint you want to do really thin layers(not much more then what it takes to cover the surface) and make sure that you are painting with even strokes (watch Steve's video of his tahoe being repaint for a reference) making sure to do about 50% overlap on each pass

thanks alot man :D this really helps out alot with every step you had :)

a couple questions does the bondo have to be over the entire enclosure or only the seems?

can the paint and clear coat be spray paint?

and about how long should i wait between each coat?

again thanks alot dude i feel alot better now i wanna re do my enclosure to try this lol

Post up a pic of your gun please and I'll tell you how to use it. I've been doing bodywork and painting cars for quite some time now so I might be able to teach Ya a little bit bout it. I still learn new things every day. You can use cans but if you have a gun to use you might as well learn how to use it right. Lol.

That is a HVLP gun meaning high velocity low pressure. Some people call them gravity fed guns also. Does the gun have a pressure regulator on it? I can't see the bottom of the handle in the pic. The very top nob controls your spray pattern. The more you turn it in the tighter of a pattern it will be. The second nob down controls how much material is being sprayed. The further you turn it out the more material it is going to spray.
