I have a crappy phone, and am too lazy to break out the camera when I'm working, so forgive the pics... Long story made short, my car has the stupid drive by wire system... Therefore, I have not been able to set the idle to 2k RPM for competing... Kinda a bummer, but I finally got motivated and fabbed up a work around.... it's nothing fancy, just a couple of brackets and a short piece of steel cable. Played around with port tuning a bit and mic placement (for Hardcore) Changed the ports from 43Hz to 49 Hz and gained some... (sealed up, mic on dash) Moved the mic to the kick (still sealed), just to test for pressure difference. Saw about .75 Db gain there. Last but not least, on the modified ports, ran it hardcore style and saw my best numbers yet (mic in kick, driver's door open, ports tuned @49Hz) I went from just breaking 145 a few weeks ago, to breaking 146Db!!!! Keep in mind, this is all efficiency gains, little tweaks here and there. Got to take some pics of the setup now, finally got unlazy and painted the ports... I took it to NSPL world finals, and we managed to pull off a 148.1 dB in 0-24" Hardcore... Looking forward to some redesign in the future, but I'll say that I'm extremely pleased for now.
