Two Alpine Type-S 12's on a mono block.

I need some help figuring out how to decide how big an amp i need to power two Alpine Type-S DVC 4 ohm subs at their rated rms or slightly above or below if needed. They are rated at 500rms. I would like to stick to an Alpine amp if possible. Im not some sort of fanboy i dont really care. Ive seen really good reviews on the alpine products ive viewed and would like input on what it would take to run the two subs, at 2 ohms and reach their 500w rms... Not sure if i add together the ohm ratings and/or the rms consumption as well. Im new to this since my current amp is a sony xplod 2-channel that would really underpower just one of these subs when bridged.

Not that much to be honest. Recently got a job. Dont want to spend a crap ton but for now im gonna get one sub and whatever amp it takes, i know its $150 per sub and i am willing to go maybe, $500 on the amp. Itll take a while to get the money but thats life. I know the mrp m500 is 500rms at 2ohms x1 and sells for $200ish. Cant really think of any other models at the moment. Just give me a cheap and high end cost i guess. And try not to use the PDX amps they have. I know they are possibly better but i dont have THAT much money to work with.

well since youre getting two 4ohm DVC subs, your going to need to look for amps that are ~1000watts at 1ohm (or 4, but thats just ridiculous lol).

well for 1000rms you dont even need to come close to $500 lol.

um if you want to save some money, Hifonics amps are decent.

now if you want to run those things with an alpine amp, you're going to need to get 2 2ohm dvc subs, which is what i had running off a Alpine MRP-M1000 (2 Type R's) and they were throat throbbing loud.

if you havent gotten the subs yet, i'd suggest to you (for the sake of what you have given us)

2 Type S 12's 2ohm DVC with an Alpine MRX-M1000 or MRX-M110.

here's a few ideas for amps . probably best to figure out what amp you are gonna run before ordering subs so you get the right ohm load when it all comes together . as for figuring the power and ohms , add the rms power of the number of subs together and that is that . 2 subs @ 500 watts rms each = 1000 watt rms together .

your ohms can go 1 of 2 ways depending on how you wire , if you paralell 2 coils the ohm load drops by half , 2-4 ohms coils paralell = 2ohm , if your wire 2 coils in series it doubles , 2-4ohm coils in sereis =8ohm load .

Just WoofersEtc is rather expensive you can get those amps cheaper elsewhere.
